Lake Skra and Waterfalls

Just a short distance from the city of Kilkis, everyone is talking about a lake with emerald waters and waterfalls. The reason for Lake Skra or otherwise “Blue Lake”, due to its color in the fossilized organisms on the bottom.

To get there, you have to take the road to Axioupolis and from there continue for the villages Koupa and Fanos. Then follow the signs to “Katarraktes”. Leave the car in the open-air parking lot and follow the stone path and the wide stairs leading to a green clearing next to the stream of Kotza-Dere.

Then you have to cross the wooden bridge over the rushing waters of the forest and choose one of the two paths which will ”drive” you to the small and big waterfalls. Continue on the dirt road and very soon you will see Lake Skra, which is formed by dozens of streams of Mount Paikos that run together, end up in the waterfalls of Skra with characteristic stalactites and stalagmites and crystal waters fall to this point creating the lake, whose depth reaches four meters. There the visitor can make a refreshing swim.
