Saria islet

Saria islet was an antiquity part of Karpathos, but due to the erosion it was separated from the rest of the island. The islet is located on the northern side of Karpathos. It has been designated as a protected area by the European Natura 2000 network due to its diversity in rare species. Saria has 45 inhabitants, 22 of whom are scientists who are investigating the Mediterranean monk seal.

We reccomend you to visit the impressive gorge, pine forest, caves and chapels. Also on Saria islet there are scattered archaeological findings from the ancient cities of Nisyros and Argos.
