Prefecture Karditsa is located in the southwest part of Thessaly, in the middle of the Thessalian plain. The capital of the prefecture is the homonymous town of Karditsa. Karditsa is considered the city of cyclists. Here for the first time in Greece it was decided to build bicycle lanes. Many streams and small rivers flow through the plain, while the village of Dryades, the botanical garden of Neochori, the cave of Georgios Karaiskakis and the Elati forests create a magnificent view. Finally, here it is worth to visit numerous antiquities, monuments and museums. The main archaeological sites are Metropolis, Ithomi and Gompon and the museums of Anthiros, Ecclesiastical Art and National Resistance.
