The church of Agios Nikolaos Molou is of great value because the only Venetian building that was rescued by the devastating earthquake and fire of 1953. It stands at the central Dionysios Solomos square and is its oldest building. It was built in a Renaissance style besides the bell tower that reminds more of the Byzantine style. Originally, the church was erected on an island where a bridge was linked to the land, then this island became an integral part of the city after the various embankments that were made to expand the city, and united with the rest of the island. It also hosts the archieratical vestments of Agios Dionysios.
