Great Sand Beach, Evia

Great Sand (Megali Ammos) beach in Marmari is located 2,5 km from the small harbor of the village. The road is easy and only in the last measures it becomes a very difficult dirt road. To get to Marmari you will need an hour by boat from the port of Rafina. On the weekends in the summer months you will find a large number of wind or kite surfers. The winds blowing are mostly northern winds and particularly strong for most of the summer. In August, it blows all day from 4 to 7 beauforts, and from the afternoon and especially in the evening, the intensity drops to almost 0, while July is a quieter month. Of course, this is not sure because in recent years, phenomena of especially strong northern winds have been manifested in July and August is much quieter and warmer.
