Nikouria island Amorgos

Nikouria is a small uninhabited island which is very close to Agios Pavlos, 5 km from the port of Aegiali. There are 3 nice sandy beaches and the water is calm and clear, a very good fishing spot. You can take the small transfer boats that leaves every 30 minutes from Agios Pavlos.
There are no shade so it’s good to bring an umbrella. On the main beach there is a bar for snacks and drinks.
Historically the island is well known for its production of coins in antiquity and later was used as a shelter for lepers from the mainland. Nowadays you will find there just a few goats and a small apiculture.
The nice sandy beaches on the island offer you a quite uncrowded, wind and rough-sea protected private atmosphere.
All beaches are soft and sandy with rocks surrounding, enjoyable for little kids and families.
Clear water and the attractive underwater world is also inviting you for snorkeling on Nikouria’s shoreline and perhaps to swim to the close-by Island of Gramvonissi.
