In 1926 the brothers Nicholas and Spyridon Tsalapatas founded the Rooftile and Brickworks Factory, which ceased to operate in 1978. In 2004, the Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation created a model Brickworks Craft Museum at the premises of the former factory in order to preserve and enhance the industrial heritage, to project the historical identity of the city of Volos.
The Museum reflects everyday life in the factory as well as all stages of the production of different types of bricks and tiles. Reconstruction of the production process and all its levels is revealed to visitors, starting with trolleys, clay tanks, sanders, presses and continuing with cutters, dryers and the imposing Hoffmann furnace to lead to the final brick production result and tiles.
