The Aegean Sea is an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea located between the Greek and Anatolian peninsulas, i.e., between the mainlands of Greece and Turkey. In the north, it is connected to the Marmara Sea and Black Sea by the Dardanelles and Bosphorus. The sea was traditionally known as Archipelagos and the islands are famous for the sunshine, the blue water and the traditional gastronomie.
A Heraion is a temple dedicated to the Greek goddess named Hera.
Tradition has it that Hera was born and raised here, and for this reason her temple at Heraion was the largest in the antiquity.
