Lesvos is one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea and the third largest Greek island after Crete and Evia. Lesvos is located in the northeastern Aegean Sea, opposite the coast of Asia.The capital city of the island is Mytilene. Archaeological sites, monasteries, mansions, traditional settlements, imposing castles reveal and unfold the history of the island. Lesvos is a geological paradise with the diversity of natural features to create a beautiful and multidimensional representation of landscapes. The fossil forest in Sigri, the thermal springs, the wetlands in Kalloni are just a few examples of the natural gifts in Lesvos. In September 2012, the entire island joined the UNESCO World Geopark Network. Some of the main features of Lesbos island are the excellent products such as ouzo, Kalloni sardines, olive oil and dairy products.
