The Assumption of Virgin Mary is the second oldest church on the island and was built behind the port in 1828.
It is a sandy beach along its length with the salt-trees offering generously their dew. Ideal for all ages, even for young children as it has shallow and warm waters. A large part of the beach is organized with sun loungers and umbrellas.
The Cathedral of the Catholics in Syros, Saint George, dominates the highest point on the hill of Ano Syros. It was built around 1200 and has since received many renovations.
The patron saint of Ermoupolis is within walking distance of Miaouli square in the center of the city and is one of the most important sights of the island.
The sandy beach of Vari is organized and for the more sporty types there are the facilities for many types of sea sports.
